I am writing this having paused the episode after his first line, and already I understand WANG FIRE's status as the avatarverse Chuck Norris.

Wang Fire?

I thought I knew most Avatar jokes/references. But I'ma need the help files on that one.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

It's worth noting that the linked clip is completely unedited. That was all actually in the show.

Every time I've seen that in the context of the show I'm too busy laughing at the BRIAN BLESSED voice, the fact that the best "Fire Nation" last name Sokka could come up with is "Fire" and the quick distraction of "Sapphire Fire" to notice that "Wang Fire" sounds like an Avatarverse STD.

the concept of an STD named Wang Fire in the Avatarverse just makes me think when you have Wang Fire, your cock firebends under it's own volition, costing you a fortune in pants because of flaming awkward erections.

So I'm watching Ducktales again and I forgot hot much of a dick Scrooge McDuck can be. Like I said earlier, I like watching/hearing stories about people being gigantic dicks and getting their comeuppance. You get all of the joy of watching someone else acting out your antisocial fantasies while also indulging of the wish fulfillment of people getting their just desserts.

This is pretty much why Bowser is my favorite videogame character.

But god DAMN do Donald's nephews make this show hard to watch. For every 2 minutes of joy I get seeing Scrooge McDuck acting like a dick, there's three of those guys. Ah, well.

For the DuckTales VHS, what was the other episode paired with Time Teasers? The one with Magica DeSpell trying to infiltrate the Scrooge Manor to get his NOD?

I'll ask my mom when I call her. She's got the vids right now because I've checked out the sing-alongs for the holiday season.

My list of favorite comic writers just keeps expanding.

Read the INcredible Iron fist run by Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction. I already liked Brubaker for "Sleeper" and "Criminal." But Matt Fraction just blew me away. I have heard that his "Punisher: war journal" stuff is also awesome.

They are by and large fairly faithful to the original and awesome Carl Barks comics. And the number of characters and tropes that the Simpsons Springfield ripped off from Carl Barks Duckburg cannot possibly be an accident.

Don't feel bad, comics history's domination by other genres is such that there are lotsa people people don't know who Carl Barks, Walt Kelly or even Will Eisner were.

But I can comfortably put "most of the stuff any of them ever did" as works that firmly belong in this thread for entertainment that completely rocked.

I played into the third day...

it's not a game, it's a vaguely interactive movie. I'm sorry, but if you're going to make a game that calls into question my choices, let me make some, rather than just railroad me screen after screen.

Okay, seriously, whining about that incident is beginning to tick me off. The point of that entire section was teaching V that problems cannot be solved solely through mindless application of magical cock without associated planning.

Not really whining, I actually rather enjoyed it, but seriously, there were some essential flaws in V's thinking. Who he is was at odds with what he is.

Yeah, um, that was kind of on purpose. He rushed into battle with an epic level lich without bothering to think things through and got his ass rather throughly trashed. It's rather like how Miko is a lawful stupid paladin on purpose instead of how Rich thinks paladins should be played.

Which is at odds with the character.

It's like those moronic sitcom plots where a normally reasonable character takes a handful of stupid pills in order to forcefeed the character a 'lesson' they wouldn't have even needed to know in the first place.

That's not the most excruciating part of the arc, though. Just another shovelful of whore's shit that comprised of the absolute worst year of that comic. Thank god it's over.

Games, especially franchise games, need to ask players if they've played before before starting a new game so don't have to deal with stupid shit like this.

Was looking at TV Tropes' Mohs Scale of Sci Fi Hardness page, and it's wording helped me figure something out.
[url=http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MohsScaleOfScienceFictionHardness?from=Main.ScienceFantasy wrote:TV Tropes[/url]]There are also several technologies which are somewhat unrealistic, such as teleportation and the ability to convert creatures and various items from your backpack into Pure Energy for storage and reconstruct it later. Don't even try to figure out the digital teaching of special moves with what looks like a CD.
So I figured out how HMs and TMs work, I think. The pokeballs turn the pokemon into energy forms for storage, neh? What if that energy form is computer data? So you put the disc into the ball holding your pikachu or whatever, and it patches your pokemon to now know the move.

The only problem with this (beyond the usual biological entity->computer data one) is that it has the unsettling implication of pokemon actually being hackable.
